Helicopter Operations
Landing on Guy James Rd. properties: Use a straight in approach, entering at 300 feet agl on the extended north/south line of the taxiway. Stay over the center of the taxiway until deviation to the apron of intended landing can be made. Special attention needs to be paid to rotor wash that may impact hangars with open doors. It is the responsibility of the pilot to insure that no maneuver is performed which precludes the ability to auto rotate to a safe landing.
Landing on Bonanza/Cessna Rd. properties: Use a straight in approach to the runway, entering at 300 feet agl on the extended centerline. Stay over the centerline of the runway until a descent to the property of intended landing can be made; thereby avoiding possible rotor wash damage to other properties.
Departure procedures should be the reverse of theses arrival procedures. Depart the property landed on so as to avoid rotor wash damage to other properties. Join the centerline of the runway (departing Bonanza/Cessna) or on the extended north/south line of the west taxiway (departing Guy James) climbing to 300 feet agl.
NOTE: Nothing in the above recommended operating procedure is to impede the judgment of the pilot and FAA regulation regarding the safety of helicopter operations. Pilots of helicopters are reminded that they are responsible for the safe operation on their aircraft including any property damage caused by their rotor wash. Therefore, hover taxing in congested areas is discouraged. It is requested that pilots utilize an approach or departure path as steep as possible to avoid rotor wash in hangars with open doors. It is also requested that property owners inform visiting helicopter operators of this protocol.
